More copies of the sex video allegedly involving Anwar Ibrahim continue to circulate in Selangor (mailed to village heads)

PETALING JAYA: Village heads from the Kuala Selangor district today lodged a police report after they received copies of the sex video implicating Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Kuala Selangor MP Dzulkefly Ahmad said that there were 27 Malay villages which fell under his constituency and “almost all” received the video through the mail. The report was lodged at the Jeram police station.

“Also in the mail is a brochure explaining the contents of the video,” he said, adding that the videos were posted from Malacca.

The video has been circulating widely in Selangor.

It has been reported that village heads in Hulu Bernam, Kuala Kubu Baru, Sekinchan, Hulu Langat and Rawang have also received the tape.

“The mailing of the video shows a concerted, systematic effort at distributing it nationwide. The police are complacent about it,” Dzulkefly said.

Meanwhile, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said that eight village heads have also received the video. Three of the villages are in Shah Alam and the others are from Subang, Meru and Klang.

Except for Meru, all the villages fall under the Shah Alam City Council jurisdiction.

“I have told them to lodge a police report but they were reluctant to do so because they believe the police are in cahoots with government,” Khalid told FMT.

“Such a concerted effort (to distribute the video) shows that it is politically motivated and that it is financed by someone.

“But I am disappointed that the police are not taking any action,” he said.

No leads yet

Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Mohd Taib Ahmad confirmed that the Jeram station has received the report.

“There are no leads yet…,” he said, adding that the case was classified under Section 292 (a) of the Penal Code for distributing obscene material.

The sex video was shown to a group of journalists at the Carcosa Seri Negara Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on March 21.

Three men, dubbed Datuk T, exposed the sex video in which a man resembling Anwar is alleged to have sex with a Chinese prostitute.

The Datuk Trio are businessman Shahzryl Eskay Abdullah, Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim and former Malacca chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik.

Anwar has since vehemently denied the claims, and accused the government of political assassination.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said investigation into the distribution of the sex video was still ongoing.
