Stop bashing Umno!

Written by Iskandar Dzulkarnain, Malaysia Chronicle

Time and time again, we come across the incessant bashing of UMNO in the electronic media and other opposition news media. We are truly tired of the UMNO bashing. Almost every other news is about the notoriety of UMNO, UMNO’s failures; UMNO’s bullying tactics, UNNO’s corruption, and UMNO’s weaknesses. UMNO’s excesses, UMNO’s evil tactics, etc. No wonder our DPM commented that unless UMNO takes a stand, UMNO will be considered a weak party.

Now, the fault doesn’t lie with UMNO. UMNO has always been a proud Party, protecting the Malays. It will always be a Malay Party and it will not be nationalistic for all Malaysians. Our DPM has affirmed that many times.

MCA and MIC is not doing enough for the other races. While MCA is still fidgeting with their own policies to stay or not to stay in the Cabinet, greedy Gerakan is talking like a male-hen, and a complacent MIC is still squabbling over former sacked MIC members. The sleeping partners of the other component parties are still sleeping. Of course UMNO’s position is shaky.

When UMNO’s Hishamuddin and Ibrahim Ali held out the keris, it is a traditional customary practise of UMNO, so why are the other races so bothered about it? Even then, the Home Minister had the courtesy to apologize, and even took a favourable stance on the Allah issue.

They say UMNO is corrupted, unable to accept changes, is racist and determined to stay on in power. Is it any different from the rest of BN’s component parties? Why are we not chastising the other parties?

UMNO does not hide the fact that they are championing Malay Rights! BN’s other component parties also do not hide the fact that they are not championing Non-Malay Rights. So, who is at fault?

Wrong medication

Malaysian politics is one sided because UMNO is focused on race-based politics, even though it has not done a good job to raise the standards of the Malay majority. It is at least trying. The rest of BN is not even trying. If the rest of BN is sincere about Malaysian unity and a Malaysian Malaysia, together it could have convinced UMNO to relent and accept the Rights of all other Races many moons ago.

But no, for fifty years BN relaxed and took a back seat, letting UMNO run the show, so that is why we have veteran UMNO leaders, who are actually leading the country. And if you have been doing this job for 50 years, you do not need anyone to tell you how to run this country.

Pakatan Rakyat did put up a good fight to garner five states in the last election, but BN is a stronger team, and the stronger team always wins.

UMNO is now in a corner, and of course it will fight to its last breath for its survival. It is true Malaysia is sick and heading for the ICU. But we had doctors like Dr M, Dr Ling and Dr Chua, who couldn’t diagnose accurately and gave the country the wrong medication.

We need strong leadership to lead Malaysia out of its misery. Is Pakatan Rakyat strong enough? UMNO desperately wants to retire and call it a day. But UMNO is not going to let a weak Pakatan Rakyat lead this country. UMNO is strong enough to unite BN which is its backbone.

PR however, is still grappling with issues, with DAP grinning like a Cheshire Cat after their historic win, PAS still having problems with their radical Islamic image, and PKR is trying to grab all the seats in Sarawak. It is a loose coalition littered with frogs jumping from one place to another; you’d think these frogs can actually fly.

Then, there is the Chosen One

On the other side we have the Chosen One (i.e. Ibrahim Ali), who says that Race Based Politics is here to stay. At least the Chosen One has picked a side. And if you recall, this wise man has not made any remarks so far, for people to soften their Hearts toward him. He is always saying the Right things to the Wrong people, and saying the Wrong things to the Right people. That is the mark of a true leader. He is a true hero of UMNO, and he is not even UMNO. Behind the lines, he is actually the one that is pulling the strings. All Hail the Chosen One!!

Even Dr M has chosen a side. He will go on fighting for what is right and for UMNO Baru. Through it all, the stage is set for the ultimate battle. Wise leaders will not always lend a helping hand, or offer words of advice. They work behind the scenes to sculpt the new landscape for our beloved country. One day they will forever be remembered as warriors, who fought for a future Malaysia,

So dear fellow Malaysians, have you chosen a side? Have your family and friends chosen their sides? Are you prepared for the impending General Election? Are you ready to exercise your right, to sculpt a new landscape for our homeland or maintain the status quo? Someone said, by not voting, you would have already voted. It doesn’t matter who you decide to vote for, just that every vote determines the future of our children, and our children’s children

If you ask us, of course we say please vote BN to preserve the status quo. Nothing has to change. Life will go back to normal. We promise no more racial flare-ups and any one that tries to disturb the peace, we will bundle them off to the ISA Kamunting camp.

We will still battle Corruption. Haven’t you heard, that Muhyiddin has made it a jihad against corruption? That’s how serious we are. If Pakatan Rakyat takes over the government, we fear that the corrupted ones will be given amnesty. We know who the corrupted ones are, and after the election we will go and catch every one of them.

No sense voting for Pakatan Rakyat. If Pakatan Rakyat becomes the ruling coalition, they might lead the country to the dogs!
