New PM gets pledge of support from Muhyiddin

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has promised to support his newly-appointed successor, Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a Facebook post today, Muhyiddin said he received a visit from Ismail at his residence, where he congratulated him for his appointment as the nation’s ninth prime minister.

“I give him my full support, and God willing, I will continue to help the Perikatan Nasional government to deliver the best service to the rakyat, especially during the country’s recovery period,” said Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin also said he prayed that Ismail would be able to shoulder his new responsibilities and lead the country to greater heights.

Ismail was sworn in as prime minister earlier today, succeeding Muhyiddin who resigned from the post on Monday after losing majority support.
