Sarawak polls ‘likely to be dirtiest’ ever, Why under Najib everything is dirty!!!

Sarawak DAP is expecting a below-the-belt fight from a fearful BN in the coming polls.

KUCHING: The 10th Sarawak election is likely to be the “dirtiest” ever as the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition faces the looming possibility of losing power, claims Sarawak DAP.

According to its chairman Wong Ho Leng, it’s a “do or die” battle for BN.

“To the state BN, it is a do or die state polls. It is afraid of losing power in the state and may decide to hold the polls concurrently with parliamentary election.

“The BN led by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is in no comfort zone either.

“Faced with the possibility of losing federal power, the next parliamentary and state polls will likely to be the dirtiest elections ever,” he said.

Reminding DAP members that they must be prepared for it, Wong said it was the people who were suffering.

“The people of Sarawak are suffering. Price of commodities have increased under the BN government.

“Even Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) leaders have to resort to signing petition to inform the prime minister its objection to BN – ‘Barang Naik’.

“It is a classic case of SUPP not knowing that it is in the government and that it is the government that has inflicted so much sorrow and hardship on the people,” he said.

Wong, who is also Sibu MP, said that although BN considered Sarawak its “fixed deposit”, it has been been marginalised by the federal government.

‘Pakatan Rakyat must seize power’

Describing the marginalisation as “unacceptable,” he said that under the 2011 federal budget, RM109.74 billion worth of mega projects would be built in Peninsular Malaysia.

“Sabah and Sarawak’s share is a mere RM9.55 billion worth of projects. That is only 8% of the total value of projects mentioned in the federal budget.

“The BN has vowed to remain in Putrajaya at all costs. It will contest to win the next election so that it can stay in power, but it will not weed out corruption. It will continue to neglect Sarawak,” Wong said.

He added that Pakatan Rakyat must seize power.

“We contest to win, not for ourselves but for our future generations. Malaysians deserve a better life.

“In order to win Putrajaya, we have a duty to ensure that Sarawak will not continue to be another BN’s ‘fixed deposit’ state.

“DAP and its Pakatan partners must also win to form the government in Sarawak,” he said, adding that the time had come for Sarawakians to rise to deliver an important message to BN.

Calling on all members and supporters to stand together with Pakatan, he said: “Enough is enough.

“We have instilled fear in BN that it will lose power. That’s why it has resorted to suspending opposition members from the State Legislative Assembly.

“BN leaders are preparing a White Paper with a view to stopping Pakatan leaders from Peninsular Malaysia from coming to Sarawak.

“They also told longhouse folk not to accept opposition politicians into their longhouses.”

Wong said that all these actions were signs of BN’s increasing fear of losing power.
