Amanah and Ku Li should step up the pace

November 10, 2011

I fully support the setting up of Angkatan Amanah Merdeka and sincerely hope that Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and his distinguished team will be able to bring about the desired changes for a better Malaysia.

Angkatan Amanah Merdeka should not be only a platform for leaders from Umno, MCA, MIC and other political parties to voice out their grievances or disputes for public knowledge.

Angkatan Amanah Merdeka must be brave and bold in speaking out for citizens of this country without fear or favour and defend rights of all Malaysian at all times.

The simple question of how accessible is Angkatan Amanah Merdeka to ordinary citizens of this country must first be addressed by its leaders.

With their previous experience with their political parties, maybe they should consider going on a nationwide membership drive to recruit members and go into action mode instantly.

With a large membership base, Tengku Razaleigh and his team can win the hearts of the citizens who are often deprived and denied of rights to complain in their own turf, Malaysia.

Tengku Razaleigh has been in the limelights for years – from the days he contested against Mahathir for the Umno top post, to the setting up of Semangat 46, to the setting up of Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah and now Angkatan Amanah Merdeka.

‘Angkatan’ or ‘Forces’ will be a force to be reckoned with in today’s political landscape and whether the so-called spirit of ‘Merdeka’ will be revived before the 55th celebrations is something worth waiting for.

Good luck to Angkatan Amanah Merdeka for a better, prosperous and free Malaysia.
