For students, the worst days are yet to come
Lone_star: Is there a need to do so when the students were just protesting peacefully by having a sit-in? Are our protectors incapable of rational thoughts?
And where is that honourable, incapable-of-lying minister-in-charge of our protectors? Being the honourable minister that he is, can he not get his men to do the honourable thing?
Despite such a start to 2012, let’s make it a year of change. Change, we must and change we can. All Malaysians, have a truly blessed year of change ahead.
Kee Thuan Chye: Thank you, Polis diRaja Malaysia (PDRM), for alienating university students from the ruling regime.
Now the youth of Malaysia may be roused to vote against BN. For all PM Najib Razak’s attempts to woo them and appear ‘cool’, this instance of police brutality against defenceless young people who merely want freedom will be added fodder for the opposition.
Well done, PDRM. We can always rely on you to exercise your brawn. As for your brain, the less said about it, the better. We like your IQ as it is.
Voice: I’m totally speechless. Why do these young and harmless university students, who are our country’s future, have to be treated in such a brutal way?
Is this Umno’s brand of the world’s best democracy? To all BN supporters, please wake up and do our country and people a favour. Vote Umno-BN out in the next GE. Save Malaysia.
Ipoh2: I am heartened by the action of these students, particularly since they are from UPSI (Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris), who are our future teachers.
Teachers play a big part to influence and guide the next generation. Most of the current teachers have been cowed into submission by the government. Many of these teachers even inculcate racism in students.
The awakening of future teachers bodes well for the country.
Abasir: Will the Umno ‘vice-chancellor’ of the 200,000-strong Malay university (funded in large part by non-Malay taxpayers) who said ‘Malays should not fight Malays’ now explain why the Malay police are beating up Malay students?
Kgen: Why is this regime afraid of a small group of less than 100 students gathering? Only a regime that suffers from guilt and fear from all the corrupt acts and abuses it has committed will act brutally against a harmless group like this.
Fairnessforall: These students are our future. They have a right to voice their concerns and to have freedom as long as they are not going around robbing and killing people.
It’s sad that the police, instead of catching robbers and thieves and murderers, attack these students who are just protesting.
This shows the BN government does not know what crime really is. I guess that’s because all BN ministers are criminals.
Compass: What a barbaric way to stop a peaceful assembly. I am ashamed. I hope the students are all right. The year 2012 couldn’t have started on a worse footing for the BN government. I think the writing is on the wall.
Freemsia: This is typical of BN police action. So now they do not just practise selective prosecution – they are also thugs. What a shame. All I can say is that what little respect I have for the PDRM have now gone out the window.
Anonymous_3f51: Nothing the police do seem to be right to people like Compass and Freemsia.
I am sure you too want a peaceful life, like everybody else, but your condemnation of the men in blue knows no bounds.
As for the students protesters, I am sure they are wise enough to know that there are other avenues that are less provocative to voice out their views.
They are supposedly the future leaders of our nation. Behave like one and not puppets to those who have their own political agendas to grind.
Anna: History has shown that time and again when students go to the streets to voice their feelings, the pillars of ruling government will begin to crumble. The Ides of March is nigh.
Dappy: Bravo to the students for showing solidarity with their fellow students. Continue to stand up against the mighty force of the evil regime. We shall support you all the way, till we succeed in dumping the regime.
Multi Racial: Attention all police officers, you are hired to ensure the safety of Malaysians, not causing harm to them.
Any politician or police chief who gave you such instructions are irresponsible. The time has come for all police officers to be professional and do what is right and not what those crooks direct you to do.
Little Han2: I remember reading that Najib made a speech on Dec 31, a few hours before this incident where students were beaten up, about “reforms and our best days are yet to come“.
Is this the kind of day he promises?
